Tink, Tink, Tink

Aubade is not playing nice. I suppose it's not really her fault that I didn't get the first row right when I picked her up after a long hiatus.

Most of the lace in this project has been a nightmare because it's not the kind of lace I'm used to working with. There are no real pattern repeats to mark off, just three or four repetitive stitch groups that should be easy to memorize but aren't because they are too easy to mix up. I'm pretty sure when I block this thing it will be full of boo boos. I'm just going to call them modifications. Ahem.

Right now I am tinking back 500 plus (!) stitches because I am on one lace pattern that I can actually read and it was pretty clear I wasn't where I thought I was when I finished the row. Oh, well....whatchagonnado? When you gotta tink, you gotta tink.

  1. It looks gorgeous to me! It never really bothers me to think back when I see a mistake, but it bothers my husband something horrible. He hates to see me rip out my hours of work. I just laugh, because what else can you do?
    Blessings,

  2. I feel your pain mainly because I've found myself in the very same predicament with my poncho! I'm having to tink back a good ten rows with 99 stitches in each row! I left it sitting just long enough to forget how the darn chart works. I'm proud of myself for not lingering in denial about it though. Just dove in and started tinking.

  3. Poor you. I hate having to tink. But the colour of the yarn is so beautiful, I'd forgive it anything.

  4. And so it goes sometimes! It is going to be a beauty and worth a bit of adjustment now.

  5. Frogging & tinking; frogging & tinking. I'm doing an MKAL in a Ravelry group (lace-ish shawl, without, of course, knowing what it will look like when it's done), and I've done my fair share of both frogging & tinking. It's the destiny of a knitter.

  7. So sorry. I got upset even when I have to tink my 28 stitches of Regina Marie but for 8 wrong rows.

  8. Now that's just amazing to me . 500 stitch tink back! Is there a glass of wine waiting for you later? Maybe I'd do the wine first!

  9. I always have a hard time picking up a project after a hiatus. And it's extra hard when there is somewhat-random lace involved. Good luck on the tinking!

  10. Lace is always hard for me to set aside and pick back up later, even when I think I've kept careful notes. Your shawl will be so pretty in that gorgeous color.

  11. 500 stitches to tink? Argh! I can relate though; sometimes you just gotta do it. However. I have read that some call mistakes design elements..... modifications work, too!
