MDSW 2016 Part 2

Shopping wasn't nearly as fun this year because instead of happy, gay booths we got plastic wrapped tents that were filled with muddy straw. I felt bad for the outside vendors. Everything was a mess.

The inside vendors were terribly crowded probably because being outside was no fun. These bunnies didn't care. They were warm and dry.

The sheep were happier than they usually are. They were enjoying this unusually cool weather. Me too.

Painted silk scarves in the mist. Nice.

Fiber braids were everywhere. I walked my legs off looking for a ball of sock yarn. I wanted to cast a pair on right there but all I could find were skeins. Boo. I saw a mom winding up her skein using her daughter while they waited in line for food. I should have brought a kid.

That's it. That's my pitiful haul. I was there from 8:30 until 4 and that's the best I could do and I shopped hard. Very hard. That's what happens when you already have everything.

Here's my Miss Babs haul. I could barely wrestle my way into her booth so I had to grab the first thing I saw. It's her special 2016 MDSW colorway in her sock yarn. This is my first Miss Babs ever. When I have The Mister with me I can't wait an hour in line to pay for something so I took advantage.

At Spunky Eclectic I found next year's shawl fiber. It's Forest Dancer in Merino and silk.

With the money Daughter gave me to spend for Mother's Day I got this braid at Misty Mountain Farms. It's Finn in the Desert Sunrise colorway. This year's festival breed was Finn so I wanted to give it a try.

While I was waiting in line to pay for it I spied this cup and now it's mine too. Well, that's it. Pitiful, right?

Since I was on my own this year, I never got a photo of me in this year's shawl, Regina Marie. I can tell you I did get lots of compliments on it from complete strangers so it was a big win.

It wasn't the best year weather-wise or shopping-wise but I did have a great time. See ya next year big fella!

  1. I'm glad you had a good time, even if the weather wasn't great and your basket wasn't full. Your Regina Marie shawl is beautiful. No wonder you received lots of compliments.

  3. I Love your shawl! You are wise to wait in line without the hubs! I love the small haul. Im glad you had fun! This just supports the theory that if you have enough yarn you WILL find more!

  4. Well, it was a mucky mess this year wasn't it? I was there on Saturday for 2.5 hours. I managed to get to Miss Babs and picked out some yarn, but there must have been 25 people in front of me to pay and I didn't have that kind of time. Boo-Hiss. Still, I managed to get some yarn and some gifts for friends. The mud was awful

If I go again, I think I will spend the night close by...it ended up being a 350 mile round trip for me. Yikes! I was exhausted when I (finally) got home. Love your purchases.

  5. As long as you had a good time, that's all that matters - though I have to say - that Miss Babs is BEAUTIFUL!

  7. Such a pretty shawl. I'm glad you had fun even with the nasty weather. Our daughter lives in Maryland and said everyone is complaining about the rain. She's fairly used to it because she lived in Portland, OR for 10 years before moving. Our granddaughter adores the rain, she's a true Portland girl. I get tired of it very quickly. I like your small haul. Everything looks good to me.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

I just bought Giroux one of those Wacky Woolies mugs. His is all green.
