We did it. We finally sat down, did the measuring and ordered the kitchen cabinets.
My sample chips arrived last week from Lowe's and I was finally able to come to a decision on what I wanted.
This was my original inspiration photo from Ikea which seems like a million years ago now. I can't find a photo of what we ended up buying but imagine this in a much lighter gray.
I really, really, really wanted an Ikea kitchen but after a year of living in rubble I am willing to compromise. The thought of having to assemble each and every cabinet was not making The Mister happy so I am going to settle for just getting this Ikea island instead. After pulling up and tossing the big old built-in island this time I wanted something I could move around and clean under so it's all good. Now we just have to wait until delivery day which is June 12th. Then the fun begins.
I can't wait to see it all finished, it is going to be spectacular! Stay safe.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure it will be nice to finally have it all done. June is coming faster than you think!
ReplyDeleteI love the look that you are going for! So calming and uncluttered.
ReplyDeleteI am with your husband; an entire IKEA kitchen is too much assembly. We bought the cabinets in our old house from Menards (a local version of Lowe's) and it turned out just perfect.
Someday we'll fix up our ugly new kitched!
I hope installation goes well...fun to get a new kitchen!! :)
ReplyDeleteWhat an exciting thing to have done. Ordering a new kitchen as to be both wonderful and nerve-wracking. My sister just got her new cabinets put in last week. They are light gray. The counters go on Wednesday and final electrical will be done by next Monday. She's so excited! She's lived there over 45 years and just getting a new kitchen! It sure makes me wish I had my old kitchen back but I'm getting used to this one. Dennis put my new cast iron sink in yesterday. It's been pure drama!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Betsy
I'm beyond happy for you; I can't imagine how excited you are!!!! It's a beautiful choice!
ReplyDeleteYou will love having a new kitchen! We redid ours quite a while ago, and just the removal of a cupboard that divided the kitchen from the family room made a world of difference. It was great to have new cupboards and a little desk, too. Good luck with your remodel!
