Gloom and Doom

This had not been a great week. First, all the flooding over the weekend, then we had a power surge from a thunderstorm on Monday that killed my beloved Alexa. Thank goodness a new power cord fixed the problem yesterday. I can't live without my Echo.

Then on Tuesday I was spinning along with the Tour when there was a loud boom that shook the house.

For no good reason a giant tree had gone down in the backyard taking lots of little trees with it. What a mess.

It fell across the creek backing it up. The creek is also backed up near the house by all the debris the flooding created. I can just imagine all the mosquitoes that are being born out there. We are going to have to wade in to clean it out as soon as it's safe to go out-if it ever is again. We've been having storms all week.

To add insult to injury,  I was on the last bit of free motion quilting on Daddio's Thangles quilt when I realized I hated it. All of it. I made a real mess of it trying to be too fancy. I've been picking it all out all week. It serves me right.
I need a do over. This week has been awful.

  1. Oh no! I’m SO sorry Debra. You have too much rain, (do you think that caused the tree to topple?), and we desperately need rain. I sure hope things improve out your way my friend.
    Blessings,

  3. Yesterday we had three-months amount of rain in couple of hours. And last week on the road to my parents' town three dozens of poplar trees broke like matches. It looked like the wind was blowing in one half a mile width of a blow.

  5. Dang, I hope the next week is a better one. I'm glad the tree didn't fall on your house and cause even more damage.

  7. I'm sorry, that's some crap. I really hope the storms calm down and you're able to clear it out without any mosquitoes. Yuck.

I'm sort of creeped out by Alexa and her AI ways. It's silly. My son has one.

I hope you watch something good while fixing the quilt. But that close up has me empathizing with your frustration.

  8. I'm sorry for the bummer week; they sure can fill a calendar some months. The old tree going is so sad; is your DH handy with a chain saw?
