A New Doo Hicky

After my latest weaving fail I decided to buy one of these strange looking things to help keep my fabric the size it's supposed to be.

It's got teeth to hold onto the woven part so it's stays the right width as you weave along.

I had to watch a video to figure out how to work it. It's called a temple by the way.

I should mention that this pattern also has you using three shuttles at the same time. It's a real humdinger.

It's too late to use the doo hicky on the towel I am weaving now. It's already too wonky, but I'll give it a try on the next warp that is waiting patiently for its turn on the loom.

  1. I think it will be a valued tool once you practice a bit with it! Experts use it so you are in good company! The towel is radiant so keep at it-wonky edges and all-it will be fine after a good wash!

  2. Looks like that could be an implement of torture - lol. Of course, I know nothing about weaving...

  3. Glad to hear that you found a helpful tool. I'm intrigued with weaving, but I doubt I will take the plunge into a new hobby.

  7. A Doo Hicky with teeth....now that's serious stuff!! Using three shuttles at the same time sounds pretty intense too but then it all looks complicated to me.
