Seven

It was our seventh and final week of Grand sitting duty. MIL made it home safe and sound from her tour of the islands that surround Australia and is now sleeping off her jet lag. She should be back in the kid sitting business next week and for that I am grateful. Our "something new" this week were soccer Barbie and Ken. We had a foosball like game going on with them and I have to say that Ken doll has a nice kick with those big feet of his.

The were holding a First Responders Night Out in the park across the street. I stayed home with baby while The Mister and SIL went with Big Grand. They had a great time which apparently included seeing a dead bear in the back of a truck. The wildlife folks brought a rather gruesome looking stuffed bear I suppose to make the point that black bears have been sighted in the more urban areas recently. At least that's what I hope was going on there.

Baby Grands new trick is to throw things. He has a basket full of little wooden farm animals and I spent two days fetching them for him. For the most part he's an absolute joy but there were glimpses of a toddler temper starting to appear. They just don't stay small long enough, do they?

  1. Ken's face looks a lot different than I remember, but I haven't played with him or Barbie for about 60 years. I hope that bear was stuffed and it wasn't some sort of RFK moment, but it still sounds a bit gruesome.

    1. It was once a live bear that a taxidermist must have had a lot of fun with. Ugh..there was a stuffed silver fox too. I thought The Mister was kidding when he told me about it until he showed me the photos.

  2. Both of our grands will be in school full time this year. That baby stage was far too short.

  3. I envy being able to spend time with Fire & Rescue. I toyed with that as a career for a while.

Also, is Big Grand left-handed? Even MORE envious of that!

  4. You did it! Nice to be a hero every once in a while! The time spent with the grandsons had to be a wonderful time overall!

  5. I'm giggling at Barbie and Ken. Last night, Dave and I were at the grocery store and young (late teens early 20s walked by us) and I said "Holy Crap - real life Barbie and Ken" I swear, they look JUST like your dolls - almost right down the the outfits!
