Happy 4th!

For some strange reason my little beach town always celebrates the 4th on the 3rd so it's all over for us already.

Just as well as I am temporarily sidelined today due to an unfortunate.... er....umm, butt injury after treadling like a maniac for 2 hours straight yesterday on a non-Tour de Fleece project. I seemed to have strained something back there that is keeping me from sitting for any length of time comfortably so the spinning wheels are out of the question for the time being. I have managed to get some mileage with my spindle, however, so the giant bucket of washed Cormo is a tiny bit emptier today.

  1. Oh noooo! Could it be sciatica? Try treating it as you would a sprain. Happy healing!

  2. For those of us who don't know, what does treadling mean. First the bats and now this - you need a dictionary attached to your blog for us non knitters. When I decide to try and actually knit instead of reading about it, I'll be a pro. With the terms anyway :)

    Happy 4th!

  3. Dear Sister,
Treadling is what you do with your feet when you use a spinning wheel. Think exercise bike. The little Ladybug and I went for a very long ride while watching the Wizard of Oz the other night and I got a giant butt burning for it.
It is tough to get so old that just moving your feet up and down several inches can cause so much trauma.

  4. Lady, you gotta work up to it! I got so sore the first time I spun for any length (incidentally I was using a rented Ladybug at the time). It is exercise, even if it is using a smaller muscle-group than you would running or cycling.

It never hurts to stretch after a long "workout" ;)

Then again, you have a lovely Golding spindle, so at least you have something to spin on in the meantime.
