Winter Weather Advisory

We are all in such a dither here about the snow that's being forecast. It's been a long time since we've had a really big snow. On my travels to the Grands I brought along the Ski Sweater to work on. The Mister's Riddari is too big for travel knitting now but I wanted something warm and cozy in my lap since it's been so blasted cold.

We arrived early in the morning so we had two whole days to play. Big Grand got a space capsule for his birthday a few weeks ago and we had a lot of fun playing space man. Of course I had David Bowie playing in the background. There was a lot of Major Tom to Ground Control going on. You're never too young for Bowie.

My sister, who is also on a sourdough journey, stopped by on Tuesday to pick up some of Betty's discard and brought along a family heirloom. It's a 1960 Brio carousel pull toy that Baby Grand loves to bits. It has a bell that goes clang, clang so we had to ration his play time with it before we all went mad.

Speaking of Betty, we cut the little loaf we made and Big Grand declared it delicious. He ate several slices at lunch and then finished it off at dinner. My sister and The Mister got a big laugh out of learning that after all this work, I am not a fan of sourdough. Never have been but being a process person it doesn't stop me from wanting to make it. I don't like scented soap either but I always make plenty of it just because I like to fool with the fragrances.

As for that Betty discard, look what my sister made from it yesterday. Now that's a pretty loaf of bread.

  1. Our forecast has moderated a bit - down to 19" expected rather than 25". Oh boy! That's a pretty sweater in your lap. I never liked sourdough until Colin started making it - his I love. Also my neighbor Rob makes really good sourdough.

  3. So funny, the same thing happened to me years ago- I successfully made sourdough bread and then decided I didn’t really like sourdough bread!πŸ˜…It was a fun experiment though! - Rigmor

  5. That space capsule is so cool! Lucky little guy!

Like you, I dont actually like sour dough, but I've always wanted to try it. But honestly, after watching you adventures, I think it's too much science for me. I'm really more of "an art" type baker lol. I like science, but when it starts getting precise, I'm in trouble.

  8. I remember that pull toy! My sister had one. And that space capsule is so cool too!
Your sisters loaf of bread turned out beautiful. I don't care much for sourdough. Once in awhile is okay but not very often.
    Stay warm!
    Blessings and hugs,
    Betsy
