Friday Fluff: DMV Insanity Edition

DMV for those of you who don't know stands for The District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia and I can tell you the place is rocking. The S word always scares the stuffing out of us here in the Mid-Atlantic. What's crazy is after a week of extreme cold temperatures, it was so warm yesterday that I had the windows open for a while. Right now it's hard to believe anything cold is coming our way but they say we won't be out of the teens for all of next week.

Just in case the ice and snow does show (it doesn't always), I put in a pick up order at the big grocery store across town. We had already been to our little mom and pop grocery that morning but they were out of everything. We were told when we got to our pick up spot at the big store that they were backed up by at least FOUR HOURS. We didn't want to sit and wait so I grabbed a cart and tried to remember what I had ordered. I didn't do too well but I did get the water and tofu along with a lot of fresh vegetables. The place was insane. I feel really bad for the workers.

As for fluff, this is how it started back in October....

....and this is how it ended. It's Merino. It's an okay skein considering I really lost interest in it around the holidays. The colors don't do much for me.

The best part of finishing something is going stash diving. I found this beautiful BFL which will make a very nice Olympic spin. Until then, I'm giving the wheels a rest.

  1. I'll be at one of our grocery stores this morning - hopefully early enough that not a lot of people will be there. I need/want more fresh veggies and fruit. I keep receiving texts about the upcoming storm - you would think it's the end of the world!

  2. It's madness here in NJ, too, but I guess that makes sense since they are calling for 18" of snow and ice. I shopped early in the week but I feel like I forgot something. I guess I'll find out. I love the colors in that Olympic spin fleece.

  3. I love the colors in that orange/autumny skein. Love them! Please stay warm and safe! And I'm glad you explained DMV--I figured you were stuck in a line to renew your drivers license.

  4. Pretty, pretty fluff and spun skein too. I really like all of the colors. Stay warm and cozy in the winter weather. We were a "feels like" of -21 this morning. Zoey isn't staying outside long at all.
    Blessings and hugs,
    Betsy

  5. The Autumn colorway is delightful. There's a panic here, too, grocery-wise.

  7. The fiber looks very pretty. I am intrigued by your purchase of tofu. Not that it is any of my business but one of my goals this year is to conquer tofu and make something edible from it. What will you make?

  8. It was a gorgeous 76* day here so it makes it even harder to remember weather in the 'below zero' margins which my parents are experiencing! (Central NY) Love the new yarn!
