I t...Drywall sucks up primer! This I have learned!

I totally feel you on the manic panic with the Mister! Dave's convertible has been a nightmare. The top was supposed to be restored the month BEFORE we closed on the house (May). Well because of COVID, they couldn't get a top, and had to have it custom made. That was supposed to be two weeks. Again, because of COVID, it took two months. Then we went to take the car in, and it broke down. We got that fixed, and a week after that, finally got it to the shop. About a week later, the restore guy calls and says it needs new tack strips (which Dave thought the restore guy had already gotten as part of the top kit). Since it's mid restore, it can't be moved, and the guy doing the restore needs that tack strip asap, since he can't do any other work and make money while he waits because Dave's car is taking up the shop. We thought we had it two weeks ago - a place in the States said online it was in stock. We waited a week, no shipping notice, so Dave calls - "Oh it's back ordered - it will be about six weeks!" Um... not cool. You said you had it in stock. (Apparently this parts place is notorious for listing everything as in stock, even though its not). So we start looking elsewhere - all the aftermarket ones are out of stock, minimum three week wait (probably all coming from the same manufacturer, which is, of course, in China). Dave is calling every old wrecking yard in North America - finally find one in California. They have it, but USPS won't ship it to Canada because of the size - we need to arrange for our own freight. They send us the shipping size. It's courier size, so I get quotes from UPS/Fedex, and Dave calls the yard back to confirm a pick up time. "Sorry... we don't deal with couriers." WHAT????? If this wasn't the only place that had it, I'd tell them where they could shove it. Dave of course,is losing his mind through all of this, which means I can't get anything accomplished until it's straightened out! Luckily, I work for a company with a Freight division. So I call up our Freight Sales VP, explain the situation, and ask him if he knows of any freight companies that can help (the one's the wrecking yard suggested only do full cars, not parts). Like me, he's baffled why they won't do courier, so he says he'll call them himself for me.
He get back to me about 30 minutes later. The yard agreed to UPS it a work location in California (so they deal with couriers, just not to Canada!!!!), and a coworker there is going to UPS it to us as soon as it arrives!!!
Dave has finally calmed down for the moment... But I tell you, if one more thing happens with this, I might just light that car on fire and be done it with!Wanderingcatstudiohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11459444703722115118noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3193069937305434031.post-43257841619447258912021-09-03T10:00:53.314-04:002021-09-03T10:00:53.314-04:00Wow! We are supposed to go up to the Goodwill there this week to drop off some things and I wonder how it is. I guess I better call first.
