Please forgive me. I'm going on a long rant here today. Let me start by saying that it took the IRS an entire year to get The Mister's refund check from 2024 here. They kept insisting he owed no taxes and kept sending him back all that he had paid in which was wrong. It was wrong by several thousands of dollars. It took a lot of going back and forth to get them to admit they made a mistake. They never actually did tbh. They made him file an amended return which I just copied line by line from the one we originally sent.
Since I failed so many times, I now have to have a video conference so I can prove who I am and that I'm still breathing. The problem here is that I'm no good at these video call things. I can't even figure out a Zoom. I've tried calling for help but the recording says they are no longer taking live calls and sends me back to the website. It's insane. If any of you have had any experience with the IRS's ID.me account, sing out please. I can use all the advice I can get.
Oh, and happy Memorial Day. It's been a washout here in the mid-Atlantic which is fine by me. Less sunshine equals less tourists.

I'm so sorry to hear this. ID.me was a mess when we had to deal with it trying to sign my BiL up for Medicare, and it took us four tries to do it. I don't know if this is any help but here is the link for the IRS Taxpayer Advocate Service: https://www.irs.gov/taxpayer-advocate
ReplyDeleteThey are supposed to help with IRS issues. I hope you get it resolved, especially because they owe you lots of money.
Thank you for this info. It really helps.
DeleteYes, we have had rounds of 'discussions' with the IRS. I found two things helped us--first, we contacted our governor for help-it worked, and second, we went to the actual brick and mortar office and face to face worked to our favor, too. Sorry for the headache!
ReplyDeletewell that's frustrating! Hope you get it all worked out!
ReplyDeleteI hope Bonny's link is able to help you. I feel sorry for anyone dealing with a government agency these days.
ReplyDeleteOur son was laid off from his job at Immigration last July. He got DOGEed right out by Elon. Because he was a "contract" worker they did not have to hire him back. Let's just say ......I am not a fan of this administration at all AND I feel sorry for all the people that speak another language who now do not get interpreters for their status hearings. It is criminal.
Oh my goodness, what a mess. I think it's just going to get worse and worse with all of the AI too. No people to deal with, just computers and no common sense. I sure hope it gets fixed very soon. And no, you certainly don't look dead in any photos I've seen. :-)
ReplyDeleteBlessings and hugs,
Betsy
