Rainy Day Blues

It hasn't been exactly a winter wonderland here for the past two days. In fact, it's been a wash. We can't work out in the yard so what's the next best miserable thing we could spend the afternoon doing?

Taxes, of course. It was a two day slug fest with The Mister doing them over and over every which way but sideways. He usually gets a nice chunk of change but that didn't happen. It seems everyone is singing the tax day blues this year. If the federal song and dance wasn't bad enough you should have seen the state. Without being able to itemize on the federal he had to take the measly standard state deduction of only $2,250 which means he had to pay in. Ouch. It wasn't pretty. We opened a very expensive bottle of bourbon and had a drink. At 11 am.

  1. Yowza! Taxes hurt to do them and worse to not get a refund! Sorry but at least they are done!

  2. We dropped out info at the accountant over a week or two ago and haven’t heard anything. I’m kind of dreading it.

  4. I'll take rain! We've been captive for almost a week. Maybe, just maybe, today we can get out.

  5. Taxes are a slug fest, especially this year. Have a drink for me, too.

  6. From what I have been hearing, a lot of us may be in for a tax surprise. At least, that is done and you can just put it behind you and do something fun this afternoon. Sun is shining again here in NC and temperature is a little warmer though nothing like last week.

  7. I hate doing taxes, ours have been sent in. Ours go to an accountant, I refuse to do them. Rain looks good to me:)

  8. We are in that same boat. We've always either gotten a little bit back or paid under $10.00. Not this year .............we owe! We are NOT happy campers.
