The Auxiliaries

I either don't have the time or the inclination to pick up all of my projects on a regular basis these days. I could blame the heat or old age but it's more than likely a combination of the two. Spiral Chicken has been in hiatus because I still can't get the background gray right. The left hand bottom corner is a bit too dark.

I tried dyeing my own wool but it was too light in spite of several dunks so I ordered more grays. I'll cut these up and see if they work when I get the urge.

I've been spending a very few minutes daily with the loom. I'm working my way across one bundle of ends at a time with little enthusiasm for the project. Those colors aren't doing a thing for me.

The punch needle projects are also languishing. I don't even have the energy to get stabby right now. A cold drink, a tomato sandwich and a good nap are all I'm interested in.

  1. Sometimes it's so muggy it's difficult to hold any kind of needle.

  2. I love spiral chicken and think the background looks just fine in the photo, but you are the judge. A cold drink, tomato sandwich, and a nap will cure much of what ails you (and me, too!)

  3. Oh YUM! Tomato sandwich on good Italian bread with plenty of mayo, salt, and pepper is just about the best sandwich for summer!

  4. Maybe it is the fall colors? I bet once it cools down a bit you'll be right back at 'em!

  6. I still love Spiral Chicken and in my humble opinion, I think it looks great!
It's so hot everywhere. We made it as far as Mitchell, SD today and the heat index is 98F. The humidity is awful, but hopefully we'll be out of that and in higher elevation by our stop tomorrow in Buffalo, WY.
    Stay cool!
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  7. The heat and the babysitting both mess with your energy levels!!! The loom is going to look great once you get started with the weft!
