I hate to be a broken record but the only thing I want to do right now is play in my fleece stash. I have an empty wheel and I had almost forgotten about this box of fiber I had cranked out on the carder back in April.
This is Dirty Nora and she is a Shetland. This is what a batt looks like just before you tear into it for spinning.
This is what it looks like when you start spinning it. I love the first pass over the bobbin. It's your first look at what you have. What I see is a lot of bumps and snarls. As expected she isn't going to be a very smooth yarn.
So why not just have fun with her? I have a big bag of odds and ends I picked up years ago at the MDSW.
If I spin a bit of that with Nora I get this. I see a funky lined hat in my future.
Speaking of funky, I have one bobbin finished of the Merino locks I dyed this past spring. I can't wait to see this crazy stuff plied. I just may be making lots of funky hats one day.
Nora is going to be amazing.
