Sometimes It's the Little Things

With the world as we know it tumbling down around us, this small thing pushed me over the edge yesterday.  We had a regime change in our city a few years ago and every year we concede things to the new ideology. That, my dears, is the precious holiday banner that used to be over the road in front of my house that leads to the town. It always gave me my "It's a Wonderful Life" moment and I loved it . Last year, the city council battled the mayor who wanted to do away with the spectacular illuminations we had each year which resulted in a very lack luster display- but hallelujah, my beloved banner was still there. This year the banner has unceremoniously been stuck in the ground on the side of the road instead of being hung up. First I lost the snowflakes that hung from the streetlights, then it was the decorated trees and now this. I know, I know, we've got bigger things to worry about but good golly. Good. Golly.

  1. I'm sorry you've lost your favorite decorations. :-( It's hard when traditions change.

The snowflakes are kind of pretty though.

  2. Sorry! It seems as though more and more traditions are being done away with and I don't like it!

  3. I get it. I love the festive decorations for the holiday season, as long as they aren't too religious.

  4. I totally agree...banners should be hung high not stuck in the ground. Sigh. Good Lord...what next?! You should see if they'll let you hang it above your driveway. LOL
